Vice President Infrastructure Regulatory Affairs (m/f/d)

We are looking for a VP Infrastructure Regulatory Affairs (m/f/d) to represent the group in regulatory matters, with a focus on gas infrastructure and market design. In this role, you will advise senior management on European infrastructure regulations, coordinate interfaces with internal and external partners, and develop strategic relationships with authorities and associations. Additionally, you will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating legislative initiatives and promoting political measures to support the energy transition.

What you will do:

  • Representation of the group on regulatory affairs issues, focusing on infrastructure, especially gas transmission and storage market design.
  • Advisory to senior management on European infrastructure regulation.
  • Relationship-building with relevant authorities and partners in the energy infrastructure community.
  • Coordination of interface to businesses, especially to Gascade, NEL, and SEFE Storage, including experts from other functions.
  • Project management within the regulatory affairs community related to infrastructure regulatory affairs across the group.
  • Preparation and support to the SVP of Regulatory Affairs in reporting to SEFE decision-making bodies on relevant political and regulatory developments, and senior management's positioning related to infrastructure.
  • Leadership and continuous development of the group’s activities for infrastructure-related regulation management of the SEFE Group, particularly concerning transformation regulation issues.
  • Leadership and implementation of continuous energy policy monitoring, identification, analysis, and evaluation of business-relevant legislative initiatives and regulations, and their effects on the SEFE Group related to infrastructure.
  • Development of existing SEFE relationships and active establishment of new relationships with politicians, regulators, and associations related to energy policy, with a focus on the regulation of gas transmission, storage, and the transformation into decarbonized solutions.
  • Leadership of industry initiatives on infrastructure regulatory affairs.
  • Ensurance of close alignment within the SEFE Group between regulatory strategy and regulatory compliance on infrastructure matters.
  • External representation of the SEFE Group by creating, participating in, and conducting specialist lectures and participation in relevant industry meetings.
  • Collaboration with regulatory agencies, associations, and industry groups to advocate for policies and regulatory standards that enable the energy transition.
  • Guidance and cooperation, along with information-sharing and knowledge-sharing with the community or regulatory experts of the wider organization, especially on infrastructure issues.
  • Preparation of presentations with key findings of regulatory analysis for senior management’s review and approval of projects and transactions.

What you will bring:

  • Distinguished expertise and demonstrated understanding of energy infrastructure, esp. transmission and storage in Germany and Europe, key regulatory bodies, directives, , network planning, priorities, etc.
  • Distinguished expertise and demonstrated understanding of regulation and policies for transmission and storage in Germany and Europe, key requirements, deficiencies, uncertainties, and upcoming changes
  • Proven track record of interacting with energy policymakers, regulatory bodies, industry associations in Germany and Europe and network of contacts
  • Experience operating in similar roles in a business and commercial context within an established international organization
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to present complex issues concisely for relevant target groups, including senior management, external stakeholders, and public bodies
  • Experience and readiness to work in an international environment, including regular business travel within and outside Germany
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and arrange own work independently
  • Ability and willingness to work in a matrix organizational structure
  • Fluency in German and English and solid intercultural competences
  • Suitable graduate qualification (or equivalent experience)
